Letztes Jahr war ich bereits am Mount Ruapehu. Es ist das groesste Skigebiet auf der Nordinsel.

Und es ist ein aktiver Vulkan. Der letzte grosse Ausbruch war 1998. Fuer Neuseelaender ist es normal da Ski zu fahren, aber ich hatte doch stellenweise ein komisches Gefuehl.
Bryan's Schwester hat in Ohakune am Fuss des "Mounts" eine Ferienhaus,in dem wir - gut ausgeruestet mit Essen und Trinken- nach gut 3 Stunden Autofahrt eintrafen. Zu unserer Ueberrschung meldete sich auch Jen, Bryans Schwester an. So wurden es 2 gemuetliche Skitage zu dritt, mit wunderbarem Schnee und einem kraeftigen Sonnenbrand.
Die Fahrt durch die weite Landschaft macht die Fahrt zu einem spannenden Erlebnis. Entlang des Lake Taupo geht es durch weite Landschaften und einen Nationalpark.

But this year we went the during the winter. For people from New Zealand is it normal to ski there. But I had sometimes crazy thoughts.
Bryan's sister has a holiday house in Ohakune. So packed we the chilly bin with all what is necessary and went for 2 wonderful days.Die drive through the wide landscape is a wonderful experience. We drove along Lake Taupo and through the Nationalparc.
